Quilt Too Small? from Lotus Cove Quilting

Red and Blue shown at Durham Orange Quilters meeting, 2022.

It’s been quite a while since I posted here. I’ll try to catch up, as I HAVE been making quilts. But today’s issue is a quilt that is too small.

In 2022, I finished a queen quilt for my own bed. All Kaffe Fassett fabrics with a bamboo batting. But both of us toss and turn all night and the sateen backing lets the quilt slide everywhere. So I’m adding new blocks to three sides.

Fortunately, old and recent Kaffe fabrics coordinate well. The quilt is ...

Eden's Quilt from Colleen's Quilting Journey

Eden chose this fabric.  I loved the pattern and it came out beautiful.
The color is bad, but you can see the straight line quilting in the blocks.

Yes, Quilts Were Finished in 2020 Even Though I Didn't Blog from Quilts + Color

This is a quilt that was finished in 2020. It was definitely a time lapse quilt.

I silk screened the heart motifs over 30 years ago, overdyed the squares about 8 years before I constructed it, and constructed it several years before it was finished.

It was one of 12 quilts finished in 2020.

The year started with 29 works in progress and finished with 26.

It was constructed

Eden's First Quilt from Colleen's Quilting Journey

\
It was Eden's turn to learn to quilt. She came the day of Thanksgiving, November 28, 2019.  Will was on his way to hunt and it was a good time for her to come.  She was so excited.  She chose fabric strips from my collection.  She loved choosing the fabric.  She almost bounced as she sewed.  She kept saying how much she loved it.  It's fun to teach someone who is so in love with the project.
She also looked through my stencils and chose the way she wanted it quilted.

Drawstring Baskets from Quilting Stories

Drawstring basket

Drawstring basket

Drawstring basket

Since some time I wish to sew drawstring baskets for my grandchildren. After searching on Pinterest and on various blogs, I was lucky to find a really great tutorial on this blog : Threading My Way. I must say that I never found such a perfect tutorial, so well explained that you cannot make any mistake. I followed step by step the explanations and had not the least problem. I sewed the orange basket first, and was so satisfied with the result that next day I did a blue one. Tomorrow a pink one! Thank you Pam for Australia!

I chose ...

Turning Artwork into a QUILT from A Ditchin' Time Quilts

Here is a quilt finish, I made this quilt for her by using @monika_forsberg ‘s artwork (w/permission)! She is such an amazing artist from the United Kingdom.  Every time I see her work I think to myself, "that would be a beautiful quilt" so finally I got my nerve up to make it a reality.  I think she loves the results because she reposted my post!  Take a look at her IG page, it's amazing!  Right now as I am posting this she has 95 wonderful comments about how much everyone likes it.

You might ask me why ...
